Drivers Licenses and ⭐REAL IDs

Beginning May 7, 2025 Louisiana residents will need to present a ⭐REAL ID compliant license/ID, or another acceptable form of identification, for accessing federal facilities, entering nuclear power plants, and boarding commercial aircrafts.
What is it?
- Passed by Congress in 2005, the ⭐REAL ID ACT establishes minimum security standards for state-issued Drivers Licenses and ID cards that can be used for official federal purposes.
The card, itself, must be ⭐REAL ID compliant unless the resident is using an alternative acceptable document such as a passport

In order to obtain a ⭐ REAL ID, a person must bring one primary form of ID, two secondary forms of ID, and two different proofs of residency.
So... what does that mean?

For Most People This Means You Bring:

Unexpired US Passport OR an Original or Certified copy of your birth certificate
VERBAL confirmation of your social security number (yes, that means you come in and verbally say your social security number, you do not need to bring the card)
Two different proofs of residency: (Pick 2 of the following that has your address clearly printed) (Needs to be the physical form, not digital)
- Utility Bill
- Your current UNEXPIRED drivers license
- A W2
- SSA-1099 Form
- A paystub with persons name, address, and Social Security Number on it (full or partial SSN #)

*FIRST AND LAST NAMES MUST MATCH ON ALL DOCUMENTS PRESENTED

Is your Drivers License expired or about to be? All you need to bring is:
- Proof of auto insurance (If you own a car)
- Pass an eye exam at our office (bring your glasses!)
- Your about to be expired Drivers License
